Hi everyone. My name is Sarah. I have another blog about my sewing projects. Feel free to check it out here. I am excited to participate in this sew along. I have wanted to try to tackel a Chanel jacket for sometime but always felt just a little intimidated by it. I stumbled across this blog this morning and I thought 'why not try it now?' I have been doing a little research to find the right inspiration for what I want to do. It is between these two options right now. The one on left is what Anne Hathaway wore in The Devil Wears Prada. I think that if I did this one I would try to make it as close as possible to the original. If I make the one the below from the Chanel Spring 2008 collection, I will probably remove the top pockets and reverse the colors. What do you think?

  1. Welcome aboard. Can't go wrong with either style. The second is very traditional Chanel which is like the one I am making. I just bought the Claire Shaeffer pattern vogue 8259 and probably leave off the collar. But...the first would be very fun to wear with jeans--need to include the patch!
    Why not make both??

  2. Sarah, I love that Ann Hathaway-modeled blazer. I briefly considered sewing one with a slightly higher stance, but discounted it quickly because (wait for it) it was worn by Lindsay Lohan. But Ann Hathaway? All class, all the way. ;)

  3. My husband said I should just sew both too. I think that may have to happen now.

  4. If you're really new to this and willing to take on those lapels - I say go for it. But I'm a classic gal, cause I like stuff that lasts for ages - it's really cheaper and much more value that way, so I would probably do the later - as you say, colors reversed.
