And it's very luxurious for me to do this muslin for myself. I normally don't do that and this will be a real treat for me.
But at this point I start thinking about the trim and buttons and how I'm going to finish this piece. I was lucky enough during the boom time in my part of the country to have a nice budget for fabrics and a lot of other things - trims, buttons, patterns, and the like. So I have a nice collection of buttons. But I also took so many of my old clothing and took the expensive buttons off and put the old buttons on (you know the cheapie buttons). So I got out my buttons sets, and this is what I have to decide
These are beautiful, but I think they are too formal and limit the use of the jacket...they do have the "CC" logo on them.
I like these as they will work with something formal and something casual (dress and jeans), but might be a little boring.
These are heavy too, and a little less formal, but might be limiting might not.
I'm at a loss here, maybe I'll know more as the suit comes together.

Have you tried some that include silver?
ReplyDeleteI like the first set the best.
ReplyDeleteI think the first set is very nice. I think it would be okay to wear the jacket with nice jeans, slacks or a skirt with those buttons.
ReplyDeleteClaire-
ReplyDeleteThere are no rules! How do you plan to wear your jacket? Mine will never be worn with a skirt-only with jeans and cute shoes/boots. That being said-any button will be fine. I love the second set-gold,not heavy, not obvious as the first, they are really a good compromise......in my opinion-but then I could see them all......
I was thinking silver also. But I like the first set and the last set of buttons.
ReplyDeleteSet 3 - why? Old school sophisticated - a little Ralph Lauren fall 2009. (Set 1 fades a bit into the fabric and set 2 and 4 are a tad 80's. I guess the 80's were fine but kinda weirded me out.)
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo loving the CC buttons - they seem most appropriate for the jacket...well at least to me! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the first set. Don't think they're too formal -- the black in them really ties things together for a truly polished look.
ReplyDeleteLike Kathi and Faye, I am wondering about silver buttons. A brushed finish perhaps.
ReplyDeleteI think a Chanel jacket can be dressed up or dressed down no matter the trims or buttons.
Gorgeous! I love both...I am not helpful! I agree with Joanne--depends how you wear the jacket. The fabric and notions look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteClaire-- I just realized that you had more buttons than I originally saw the first time while reading it on the iphone itty bitty screen. I think my eyes are going! I particularly love the last buttons or the Chanel buttons look nice too!
