Trim me up, Scotty!

As you might recall, Marji was in NY late last year, and she very kindly offered to find some trim for my yummy red mohair boucle. Thank you SO very much, Marji! I visited Mood myself just a week ago, and it's an eye opener. As the saying goes, there's no place like it!

Cap'n, I'm givin' ye all she's got:

So here we have four interesting possibilities - an all-black grid, two in red & black and very different from each other, and the fourth a very interesting one combining red with grey instead of black. I truly love that one for its out of the envelope colour combo, but want to save it for something either somewhat more orange or plain grey, probably the latter, to make the orange serve as an accent.

How do you like the plain black mesh? I think it needs something - the effect is a tad severe. Because it's black, I think I'll also set it aside for an easy match to something else.

WOW! This one's really a WOW, isn't it?! Baroque and Rococo and more! My only fear is that it might be a bit overwhelming on a jacket. But on a longer coat, it would really rock! Wouldn't it?

OK, we're down to #4, the proverbial last but not least. A bit more restrained...whew! I have enough to trim up four pockets, and probably the shoulders too - as that appears to be the Langerfeld touch in recent years...

What say ye, ladies? Let's put it to a vote: which trim works the best? Don't be shy - you already saved me from the icky heavy metal and the fuzzy caterpillar.
(you can click on any of the pics to get a closer look; the pics were taken in daylight). And, thanks, all!

  2. Can't help it-- My vote is for #2, Baroque and Roccoco and all. Restraint is not my strong suit.

  4. I say go for baroque. Chanel trim should be loud and proud.

  6. If it was for me I too would go for the baroque one.
Soyons fou!!! as we say in France.
N° 4 is great though especially if you have four pokets and trim the arm scye
What sort of lining did you use it looks like organza. BTW I love colour of your jacket and the mohair like bouclé looks so soft and comfy

  8. I'm all about "over the top" so I vote for baroque and rococo. And I love the shoulder trim.

  9. I like the WOW! one (Baroque & Rococo) IF you don't put it on the shoulders too. If you're doing the shoulders, I'd use the last one.

  10. I'd go with the safer choice i.e. #4, but feel free to go rococo if it takes your fancy. Don likes the plain black, however.

  11. In the very first photo you show a trim on the far right, what would that look like on top of the black mesh?

The rococo certainly has impact, you can see that in the pics.I'm warming to that.

  12. Oh I'm for all over the top - with a colour like that you're already standing out, why not go all the way with the rocco?

  13. I like #4 but also like #3. I think if you go with #3 you might want to try some different trim placement so it doesn't overwhelm the jacket. Maybe double pockets too with trim but no trim down the front edges, just around the collar? There are so many different options.

  14. Definitely baroque/rococo! Hands down.

  15. I like all three quite a bit, but I really love the black mesh, I just think you'd have to use some really nice buttons and go ahead with the shoulder trim. All your choices look fantastic though, can't wait to see the finished jacket!
